I am scared,
I don’t know if I will be spared,
Wondering if those I knew even cared,
But grateful for those who cared.
I am scared,
I don’t know if we were prepared,
Has our love for humanity been impaired?
Can the damage caused be repaired?
I am scared,
About how our numbers have been compared,
Protecting human life doesn’t seem to be a goal shared,
My people are prisoners outside home, despaired!
I am scared,
Of the numbers yet undeclared,
But even though we were unprepared,
The spark that needed to do better has been flared!
