Did you ever really wonder,
just what it is that we do?
We pen our thoughts to paper,
to help one another get through.
But often there is so much more,
our words bring to needful souls.
Places unreachable by doctors,
untouchable by surgeons tools.
Just as good as any prescription,
that attempts to treat one’s ills.
I think a poetry subscription,
heals any heart, it fills.
Poems are better than pills,
you decide how many you need.
Never going out for re-fills,
just find some you like, and read.
So the next time somebody asks what,
your profession is, what should you say?
Tell them with pride you’re a poet,
helping others renew each day.
